How to print graph paper
- Choose the paper type: square grid, dot grid, lined, isometric, hexagon, polar, music staff or calligraphy practice sheets.
- Pick your paper size (A4, US Letter, A5, Legal or A3) and orientation, and set the spacing in millimetres. 5 mm squares are standard graph paper; 1/4 inch is about 6.35 mm.
- Adjust the line colour and weight, a bolder line every 5 or 10 squares, the margin, and an optional name and date header for classwork.
- Press Print / Save as PDF. In the print dialog set the scale to 100% (or "Actual size") so the squares are exactly the size you chose. You can also download an SVG or a 300 dpi PNG.
Which paper for which job?
- Square grid: maths graphs, geometry, floor plans, pixel art and engineering sketches.
- Dot grid: bullet journals, sketching and handwriting where full lines would be distracting.
- Lined: handwriting practice and notes, with a red margin line.
- Isometric: 3D drawings of cubes and objects, game maps and technical illustration.
- Hexagon: board game maps, chemistry structures and quilting.
- Polar: plotting angles and polar functions in trigonometry.
- Music staff: writing melodies and music theory exercises.
- Calligraphy: guidelines with a 55° slant for italic and copperplate practice.
Pages are drawn as vector graphics in your browser, so they print razor sharp at any printer resolution, with no watermark and no sign-up.
Why are my squares slightly smaller when printed?
The print dialog is shrinking the page to fit. Set Scale to 100% or Actual size, and the spacing will match exactly.
What size is standard graph paper?
5 mm squares in most of the world, and 1/4 inch (four squares per inch) in the United States.
Can I save it as a PDF?
Yes. Press Print / Save as PDF and choose "Save as PDF" or "Microsoft Print to PDF" as the printer.
