How to create your signature online
- Choose Draw and sign on the pad with your mouse, trackpad, finger or stylus. The line gets thinner when you move quickly, like real ink. Use Undo to remove the last stroke.
- Or choose Type, enter your name and pick a handwriting style.
- Pick the ink colour and pen size, then download a transparent PNG (trimmed to your signature, at double resolution) or a scalable SVG, or copy it to the clipboard.
Using your digital signature
A transparent PNG signature can be placed on PDFs, contracts, forms, letters and email footers in most editors, including Word, Google Docs, Preview on Mac and PDF editors. Insert it as an image and resize it to fit the signature line. The SVG version stays sharp at any size, which is useful for printing and design tools.
An image of your signature is a simple electronic signature; for many everyday documents it is accepted, but some contracts require qualified or certificate-based e-signatures with identity checks. Keep your signature image private, as anyone with the file could paste it into a document. That is also why this tool runs entirely in your browser: nothing is uploaded, stored on a server or tracked. Typed signatures use the handwriting fonts installed on your device, so the styles on offer vary between Windows, Mac and phones.
Is a drawn signature legally valid?
In many countries, simple e-signatures are valid for many agreements, but rules vary. Check requirements for important contracts.
How do I add my signature to a PDF?
Download the PNG and insert it as an image with a PDF editor, or with Preview's or Adobe Reader's signature tools.
Why is the background transparent?
So the signature sits naturally on any document. Tick "White background" if you need a solid background.
