Why convert PNG to JPG?
PNG is lossless: great for screenshots, logos and graphics, but photos saved as PNG are often 5–10 times larger than they need to be. JPG (JPEG) uses lossy compression designed for photographs, so a 6 MB PNG photo typically becomes 500 KB–1 MB as a JPG at 90% quality with no visible difference. That makes it easier to email, upload to forms with size limits, or use on a website.
JPG has no transparency. Transparent parts of your PNG are filled with the background color you choose next to the Compress button, white by default. If you need to keep transparency, convert to WebP instead, or keep the PNG.
Keep screenshots of text and line art as PNG if you can: JPG adds faint blur and halos around sharp edges. For those, a quality of 95% minimises artefacts.
Conversion runs in your browser with the Canvas API, so your images are never uploaded and the page keeps working offline.
FAQ
Will converting PNG to JPG lose quality?
JPG is lossy, so tiny details change, but at 85–95% quality photos look identical. Sharp text and flat graphics may show slight artefacts.
What happens to the transparent background?
JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background color you pick (white by default).
Can I convert many PNG files at once?
Yes. Drop as many PNG files as you like and download them all as one ZIP file.
