How to convert WebP to JPG

  1. Drop one or more WebP files on the box above, or tap it to choose them.
  2. The output format is already set to JPG. Adjust the quality or maximum size if you like.
  3. Download each converted file, or all of them as a ZIP.

When to convert WebP to JPG

JPG is the most compatible image format in the world: every phone, printer kiosk, office program, marketplace and upload form accepts it. If a site rejected your WebP image or a colleague cannot open it, converting to JPG solves the problem while keeping the file small.

Both formats are lossy, so use a high quality of 90% or more to avoid adding new artefacts. The JPG will usually be somewhat larger than the WebP for the same visual quality, because WebP compresses more efficiently. Transparent parts become the background color you choose (white by default), since JPG has no transparency. Animated WebP files become a still image of the first frame.

Tip: to save a WebP image from a website as JPG directly, download it first, then drop it here.

Conversion runs in your browser with the Canvas API, so your images are never uploaded and the page keeps working offline.

FAQ

Is WebP better than JPG?

WebP is usually 25–35% smaller at the same quality, but JPG works with more software. Use WebP for websites and JPG for sharing.

Will I lose quality converting WebP to JPG?

A little, as both are lossy. At 90–95% quality the difference is not visible.

What happens to transparency?

Transparent areas are filled with the background color you choose before converting.
