How to remove a white background

  1. Drop a logo, signature or product photo with a white background on the box above.
  2. The white areas connected to the edges become transparent. Raise Tolerance to remove off-white and light grey shadows; lower it if edges of your subject disappear.
  3. Increase Edge softness for smooth anti-aliased edges.
  4. Click Download PNG.

Why "connected to the edges" matters

A simple "remove all white" would also punch holes in the white parts of your subject, such as the eyes in a face, white text inside a logo or highlights on a product. With Only remove background connected to the edges ticked (the default here), the tool starts from the image border and removes only white that is joined to it, like a flood fill. Enclosed white areas stay solid. Untick it if you also want the white inside letters like "O" and "A" removed.

This works best on clean white backgrounds: scanned signatures, logos exported on white, and product photos shot on a white sweep. For signatures, try a high tolerance (60–80) to remove paper texture. The result is a PNG with transparency, ready for documents, websites and slides. Everything happens in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

FAQ

How do I make a signature background transparent?

Scan or photograph it on white paper, drop it here, raise tolerance until the paper disappears and download the PNG.

Why are there holes in my logo?

Make sure "connected to the edges" is ticked, or lower the tolerance.

Why is there a grey halo around the subject?

Raise the tolerance slightly or increase edge softness so the light-grey edge pixels fade out.
