VAT rates in Italy

|---|---|

In Italy the tax is called IVA (imposta sul valore aggiunto). To add 22%, multiply the net price by 1.22: €100.00 becomes €122.00. To remove it, divide the gross price by 1.22: €100.00 including VAT is €81.97 net plus €18.03 VAT. A common mistake is to take 22% off the gross price, which removes too much; the VAT share of a gross price is 11/61, or 18.03%.
Italian electronic invoices (fattura elettronica) go through the SdI exchange system. Businesses under the flat-rate regime (regime forfettario) do not charge IVA.
Standard and reduced rates checked on 20 October 2026 against the Agenzia delle Entrate. Rates can change with each budget; the rate box is editable if a change takes effect.
