  2. Type a card at the bottom of a column and press Enter.
  3. Move cards by dragging them on a computer, or with the ◀ ▶ buttons on a phone. Tap ● to colour-code a card, ✎ to edit it, ✕ to delete it.
  4. Export the board as JSON to back it up or move it to another browser, and import it there.

Kanban in a nutshell

Kanban, from the Japanese word for "signboard", started at Toyota as a way to visualise work and limit how much is in progress at once. A Kanban board shows each task as a card moving left to right through stages. Seeing everything at a glance makes bottlenecks obvious, and keeping the Doing column short helps you finish work instead of starting more. It works for software teams, content calendars, job applications, house moves, wedding planning, homework and personal goals.

This board is deliberately simple: no account, no sharing, no notifications. Everything is stored in your browser's local storage on this device, so it is private and works offline once loaded. Because it lives in one browser, export a backup now and then, especially before clearing browsing data.

Can I share a board with my team?

Export it as JSON and send the file; they can import it. Changes are not synced live.

Does drag and drop work on phones?

Use the ◀ ▶ buttons on touch screens; dragging is available with a mouse or trackpad.

How many cards can I add?

Hundreds. Browser storage allows several megabytes of text.
