How to convert Word to PDF

  1. Drop a Word document (.docx) onto the box above, or tap it to choose a file from your computer or phone.
  2. Check the preview. Headings, paragraphs, bold and italic text, lists, tables, links, footnotes and images are kept.
  3. Pick the paper size (A4, Letter, Legal or A5), orientation and margins.
  4. Press Save as PDF, then choose Save as PDF (or Microsoft Print to PDF) as the printer in the dialog that opens.

Private conversion, with honest limits

Most "Word to PDF" sites upload your document to their servers, which is a problem for contracts, CVs, medical letters and coursework. Here the .docx file is unpacked and converted to clean HTML inside your browser by the open-source Mammoth library, and your browser's own print engine writes the PDF. The result has selectable, searchable text and working links, and the file never leaves your device.

Because the document is re-laid out rather than copied page by page, the PDF follows the content and structure of your file but not every pixel of Word's layout. Page breaks may fall in different places, and multi-column layouts, text boxes, headers, footers, page numbers and exotic fonts are simplified. For CVs, essays, reports, letters and notes this works well. If the exact layout matters, for example a designed flyer, use Word's own File → Save As → PDF, LibreOffice (free), or Google Docs → Download → PDF.

Is my Word document uploaded?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser. Only the converter code is downloaded from a public CDN.

Can I convert old .doc files?

Not directly. Open the .doc in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs and save it as .docx first.

Why does the PDF look slightly different from Word?

The document is converted to a web layout before printing, so fonts, spacing and page breaks can differ. Text, headings, tables, lists and images are kept.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. Choose the file, then use Save as PDF; your phone's print or share sheet lets you save the PDF to Files or Drive.
