Online Notepad

Autosaving notepad with several notes, private

How to use the online notepad

  1. Start typing. Your text is saved automatically in this browser a moment after you stop, so it is still there when you come back.
  2. Press + New to start another note and switch between notes with the list; each note is titled by its first line.
  3. Copy the text or download it as a .txt or Markdown file. Use A+ and A− to change the text size and Focus for a distraction-free full screen.

A private notepad with no account

Your notes are stored only in your browser's local storage on this device. They are never uploaded, so there is no account, no syncing and no one else can read them, which also means they will not appear on your other devices. Clearing your browser data or using a private window removes them, so download anything important. Open the notepad in two tabs and changes in one appear in the other.

It is handy for quick notes during calls, drafting emails and posts, cleaning text copied from PDFs or web pages (pasting removes formatting), keeping a scratch pad while coding, or writing without the distractions of a full word processor. The live counter shows words, characters, lines and estimated reading time, useful for essays, social media limits and speeches.

Where are my notes saved?

In this browser on this device (local storage). Nothing is sent to a server.

Will my notes disappear?

Only if you clear browsing data, use private browsing, or delete them. Download important notes as a backup.

Is there a size limit?

Browsers typically allow around 5 MB of local storage, which is millions of characters.
