How to remove the sound from a video
- Drop the video.
- Remove audio is already ticked. Trim the start and end if you like.
- Click Convert and download the silent video when it finishes.
Why mute a video?
Background noise, wind, private conversations or copyrighted music can make a clip unusable. A silent copy is handy for website hero backgrounds (browsers only autoplay muted videos), presentations, product demos where you will add your own music or voice-over, and sharing recordings without revealing what was said.
The video is re-encoded without an audio track using your browser's own encoder, so the result is a genuinely silent file rather than one with the volume turned down. Players will not even show a volume control, and platforms will not flag the clip for copyrighted audio. Encoding happens in real time on your device; a 1-minute clip takes about a minute and is never uploaded. Output is WebM, or MP4 in browsers that support MP4 recording.
FAQ
Is the audio track deleted or just silenced?
Deleted. The output video has no audio track at all.
Can I keep the original quality?
Choose High quality and Original resolution for the closest match; re-encoding loses a little detail.
Can I mute only part of a video?
No. The whole output is silent.
