How to trim a video
- Drop the video file.
- Play it and pause where the clip should start, then press Start = current. Do the same for the end with End = current, or type the times in seconds.
- Keep the original resolution and High quality for the best result.
- Click Convert; the selected part plays through once while it is saved. Then download it.
Good to know
The trimmer records the selected part with your browser's video encoder, so it works on any computer or phone without installing software, and the file never leaves your device. Because the clip is re-encoded, cuts are frame-accurate to the playback position, but there is a small quality loss compared with lossless cutting tools that copy the original stream, and the output format is WebM (or MP4 in browsers that support it).
Trimming is ideal for removing the fumbling at the start and end of phone videos, cutting a highlight from a game or sports recording, or making a short clip for social media. For a looping, silent clip, try the video to GIF converter.
FAQ
Does trimming reduce quality?
Slightly, because the clip is re-encoded. Choose High quality and the original resolution.
Can I cut out a part in the middle?
Not in one step. Trim the two parts separately.
What format is the result?
WebM in all browsers, or MP4 where your browser supports MP4 recording.
