How to calculate your age
- Enter the date of birth.
- "Age on" is today by default; change it to find someone's age on a particular date, such as a deadline for school entry, a competition or a visa.
- Read the age in whole years, the exact age in years, months and days, the total in months and days, the weekday of birth and how many days until the next birthday.
How exact age is worked out
Age counts completed years since the birth date, then completed months, then the remaining days. Someone born on 15 June 1990 is 36 years, 4 months and 4 days old on 19 October 2026. When the day of the month has not been reached yet, a month is borrowed using the length of the previous month, the same way people count by hand.
People born on 29 February have a birthday only in leap years. For counting purposes the calculator treats 28 February as their birthday in other years, which is the usual legal convention in many countries (some use 1 March). Totals in days include every leap day.
Some cultures count age differently: in traditional Korean and Chinese age reckoning a baby is one at birth. This calculator uses the international (Western) system used on official documents. Nothing you enter is stored on a server.
