How to convert an hourly wage to a salary

  1. Enter your hourly rate. "Per hour" is already selected.
  2. Set the hours you work per week and the weeks you are paid per year. Use 50 or fewer weeks if you take unpaid time off.
  3. Read the equivalent yearly, monthly, semi-monthly, biweekly, weekly and daily pay.

The formula

Annual salary = hourly rate × hours per week × paid weeks per year. At 40 hours and 52 weeks there are 2,080 paid hours, so a quick rule is to double the hourly rate and add three zeros: 25 an hour ≈ 50,000 a year (exactly 52,000). Part-time at 20 hours a week halves it. Monthly pay is the yearly amount divided by 12, which is 4.33 weeks, not 4.

HourlyYearly (40 h × 52 wk)
15.0031,200
18.0037,440
20.0041,600
22.0045,760
25.0052,000
30.0062,400
35.0072,800
40.0083,200
50.00104,000
75.00156,000

Overtime, tips, shift differentials and bonuses are not included; add them separately. When comparing an hourly job with a salaried one, remember that salaried roles often include paid holidays and benefits, while hourly roles may pay overtime. Figures are gross, before tax.
