How to view and edit PDF metadata

  1. Drop a PDF on the box to see its properties: page count, page size, PDF version, title, author, subject, keywords, the app that created it, dates and the number of form fields.
  2. Edit the title, author, subject, keywords, creator or producer in the form below the table.
  3. Press Save PDF with new properties to download an updated copy, or Remove all metadata to download a copy with the properties cleared.
  4. Drop several PDFs at once to get a page count and size for each one, with totals.

Why metadata matters

PDF properties travel with the file. The title is shown in browser tabs and often in search results when a PDF is published online, so setting a clear title helps SEO and accessibility. Author and keywords help document management systems and searching.

Metadata can also leak information you did not mean to share: the author field often contains the full name of whoever created the original document, the creator field reveals software and versions, and dates show when a document was really written. Before sending a CV, a contract draft or a document to a client, it is worth checking and, if needed, clearing these fields. Note that removing properties does not remove content such as comments, hidden layers or text on the pages.

All reading and editing happens locally in your browser.

How do I change the title of a PDF?

Drop the PDF, type a new Title in the edit form and press Save. The new title appears in browser tabs and PDF readers.

Does removing metadata make a PDF anonymous?

It clears the document properties, but names in the text, headers, comments or scanned signatures remain. Review the content too.

How do I count pages in many PDFs?

Drop them all at once. The table lists the page count of each file and the total.
