How to convert CSV to Excel

  1. Drop a .csv or .tsv file, or paste CSV text into the box and click Use pasted data.
  2. Check the preview. The separator (comma, semicolon, tab or pipe) is detected automatically.
  3. Click Download Excel (.xlsx).

Why convert instead of just opening the CSV?

Opening a CSV directly in Excel often goes wrong: accented characters turn into gibberish when the file is UTF-8, everything lands in one column when the separator does not match your region, long numbers such as order IDs and phone numbers lose digits or turn into scientific notation, and leading zeros in postcodes disappear. Converting to a real .xlsx file avoids most of that.

Numbers are stored as numbers so you can sum and sort them, while values that look like numbers but start with a zero (such as 01234) or are very long stay as text. The first row is made bold as a header. The workbook is written in standard Office Open XML and opens in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers and LibreOffice. Conversion happens on your device.

FAQ

Will leading zeros be kept?

Yes. Values like 00123 are kept as text, so the zeros remain.

Can I convert a semicolon CSV?

Yes. The separator is detected automatically.

Is there a row limit?

Excel allows 1,048,576 rows per sheet; your device’s memory is the practical limit here.
