How to convert HEIC to PNG
- Drop one or more HEIC or HEIF photos on the box.
- PNG is already selected. Each photo is decoded and saved as a lossless PNG at full resolution.
- Download the files one by one, or all at once as a ZIP.
When PNG is the right choice
PNG stores every pixel without lossy compression, so it is the format to choose when you plan to edit the image further, cut out the background, overlay text and graphics, or need a pixel-perfect copy for design work. It is also accepted by every editor, website and operating system. The trade-off is size: a 12-megapixel iPhone photo that is 2โ3 MB as HEIC typically becomes 15โ25 MB as PNG. For sharing, emailing or uploading, convert HEIC to JPG instead.
Safari decodes HEIC directly; other browsers load an open-source WebAssembly decoder once and then convert on your device. Images are rotated the right way up, and location metadata is not carried over. Nothing is uploaded, which matters for personal photos.
FAQ
Why is my PNG so much bigger than the HEIC?
HEIC uses modern lossy compression; PNG is lossless. Use JPG if file size matters.
Does PNG keep transparency from HEIC?
Yes, if the HEIC image has an alpha channel. Most camera photos do not.
Can I convert many photos at once?
Yes. Drop them all and download a ZIP.
